TIPS FOR NEW CAPTAINS ON BOOKING COURTS FOR PRACTICE.
1. Bocce Tournament Rules now allow a waiver to the three-day rule for booking courts. You are allowed to pre-book your six weeks of practice times as soon as you get your Captain’s Packet if you know what day you are going to hold your practice.
2. First, come to the meeting prepared with your six weeks of actual play dates. (Bring a calendar). e.g. Monday 7th, 14, 21 etc.
3. Come to the meeting prepared with the day and time that is best for the majority of your players. Make a list of those practice dates. If practice is a Friday, it is the preceding Friday before the Monday. e.g. Fridays @ 10:30am
4. At the meeting, and using the Match Schedule to add the court number to your list of play dates Monday 7th, court 2
5. If your first play date is Monday, May 7th on court 2 and your practice day is Friday then you will want to schedule the previous Friday to May 7th which is Friday 4th. Friday 4th Court 2 @ 10:30am. Followed by Friday 11th, appropriate court. Go through all Friday dates.
6. The Court Manager brings the court calendars to the Captains meeting. Team names are drawn and calendars are given to the captains to do the booking. Team name and ‘practice’ should be listed to qualify for the waiver.
7. Depending on availability, you may not always get the court that you want.
